Flow Control Option for Party / Table # (Max parties per X mins)
planned
Ryan Anderson
It would be helpful to restrict # of parties per increment instead of max guests. For instance, if we set the max to 8 guests and our increment is 15 minutes, it allows four 2 top reservations in one time slot. We like to limit our reservations to 1 party every 15 minutes and it can be up to 8 people in a single party. For a large establishment, the head count is more useful but in a smaller venue party count per increment is more useful for flow control.

Hello Toast Team,
I was directed to this thread from my on-boarding team to upvote this issue with Toast Tables.
I am a new Toast customer, and after signing up, I discussed the Toast Table apps with other restauranteurs using your POS. None of them use Toast Tables, that confused me as other options can be so pricey.
It makes sense though, this lack of flow control with # of reservations per time slot is a deal breaker. There is no benefit to using Toast Tables if it doesn’t at least meet minimum expectations.
You should survey your current customers and ask them why they are so apprehensive about switching to Toast Tables. I believe if you put more effort into this application you would benefit greatly from the efforts. I will continue to use HostMe until you have this issue resolved.

Brittany Martin the fact that they cant make this simple change is honestly absolutely ridiculous, and I'm very fed up about it. they already have a flow control setting for number of covers, i don't see how its so hard or should take YEARS to add a flow control option for number of reservations at one time. we're an insanely busy seasonal restaurant and the absence of this feature has made all busy nights an absolute nightmare. we take tables of 20's and 30's on a normal night, tomorrow night for example i have two 20 tops, a 25 top, and an 11 top, plus all of our other smaller reservations. you can probably imagine how ineffective a cover flow control (or per-person control) would be for us. our largest reservations are up to 60 people (for yes, just one reservation). i would not recommend toast to anyone until they get this simple feature fixed. it shouldn't be this hard and chaotic for my staff to get through a busy night. its wildly disappointing, and i'll avoid adding any colorful language to this post, but i have a few more choice words and feelings about the lack of remedy for this problem

sonora.braun@toasttab.com and Jim - has there been any progress on this feature? We use OpenTable at a different restaurant. The ability to control table volume per increment is a game changer. Below I have an example of our old school paper reservations. We still need to use these for holidays because the way ToastTables is set up makes it unreliable and unrealistic.
When I called to check on the progress of this feature today, I was told to create different time intervals per party size and set the limit there. That is not a solution, but a mess.
I am happy to speak with and help your engineers design this. It can be done. OpenTable does it and integrates with Toast.

YES - our host can’t handle seating ten two tops for a fifteen minute period. She can handle twenty guests for a period if it’s five tables of four though.

FLOW CONTROL BASED ON COVER COUNT FOR SPECIFIC SERVICE PERIODS
would like to have differences in flow control allowance for different time zones. using their current system (EatApp), having the ability to see the amount of bookings in place for the reservation at any given time and to then adjust to no longer take reservations for that time slot accordingly.

FLOW CONTROL BASED ON COVER COUNT

They would need flow control to operate off of cover counts for the reservations booked (so that once a party is booked for the indicated time increment regardless of party size, it's booked and another party cannot be booked for the same time).

Please allow us to limit reservations by an amount of tables per increment as well as the amount of covers.

Limit number of reservations per time block
BOOK KEEPING
Ability to limi the number of reservations in a time slot not count. Example- limit of 5 reservations in a 15 minute time slot so we don’t get 8 reservations of 2 people.

where are we on this change happening? i know i dont know the inner workings of the back end of toast, but it seems like this should be a sort of easy adjustment to make. not being able to restrict number of reservations during a certain time increment is really making work a lot harder and more chaotic then it should be. your program is great at making things very stream line, but this is a huge issue to our restaurant and how it effects our flow.

It would be more profitable for us if we could limit seating during some 15 minute intervals ..for example, if I fill the restaurant at 5:00pm I can fill it again at 7:15-7:30. I'd like to be able to allow only one or two tables at 6pm and more at 5pm and 7:00pm. If there is a work around that I haven't figured out, I would love to get your ideas/feedback. Thanks!

reservation increments by number of reservations at one time

we are a big restaurant, that takes reservations of up to 60 people in one party. And a typical large reservation for us is around 20-30, so the flow control and the reservation increments that you currently have for toast don't work for our establishment. it would be so absolutely huge if you could make a feature under flow control that you can either set a max guest (which you have) or a max # of reservations at one time feature. before switching to toast, we would only take 3 reservations at one time, because we also have a large number of walk-ins in a night. so for example this feature would allow us to have three at 6:00, three at 6:30, three at 7:00 and so on. because our reservations are so big, we might need 6 tables for one half hour block, and 3 tables for another half hour block. and that also means the number of customers is going to fluctuate from each time block. I hope that was concise enough, and it would be such a game changer if you could make that happen!
