Card on File - Hold a CC for reservations (No Show / Cancelation Fees)

When we signed up for toast tables we were told at some point in near future we would be able to take CC for reservations. It's very important to us because when someone books with a CC they normally don't cancel the reservation. We like to take CC of parties of 7 or more. We don't change the card unless they don't cancel within 24 hours. When we used Resy this feature was available. Thanks

Do not charge credit card unless guest is a no show

Take credit card number for reservation deposit and only charge card if customer does not show up for reservation. Also, reservation deposit is taken off the bill which guests hate AND it lowers the tip they leave us bc the functionality of toast does not account for the proper amount when adding tip percentage. It tips the amount AFTER the reservation deposit is taken off. Toast is losing money for us!

People turn off their credit cards and you lose money

In my experience with OpenTable where we did require a card and had a 24 hr cancellation policy.. it provides the customer INCENTIVE to actually take the 10 seconds to cancel their reservation.
The point for us is not to be able to charge customers, but just to hold them responsible. With Toast and NO card on file we are getting lots of careless no-shows!

People from the credit cards off and still don't show up.

Require a credit card for reservations, but not charge a deposit.

We would like to be able to require guests to enter a credit card when booking a party of 6 or more, without charging them a deposit. If they do not show for their reservation, we want to be able to charge the card $25/person.

After Father's Day we had too many deposits. It's confusing for servers and a deterrent for people to make reservations. Also lowers tips.
Please: "Provide restaurants with the ability to require CC information for parties of 6 or more. And set a cancellation policy/fee if not canceled within a set time frame. CC information is taken and stored in Toast tables, but not visible to staff once stored." Yelp had that and it was perfect!

Legitimately the first feature that should be worked on. Losing so my money on cancellations last minute. No update in sight. Moving on, thanks.

This should be top priority! deposits are such a deterrent to guests and it also lowers the tip amount due to the bill being less after the deposit is redeemed.

This is being planned for ages now. I can't understand why Toast Table doesn't have this feature but they came up with "deposits" instead of the credit card hold? Perhaps they credit card fees we pay? Or something else. My business lost thousands end of year because of no shows and when I enabled the deposit it was insanely received negatively. Please fix this asap.

Matty Tucker Hi Matty! I left the Tables team in September. Adding Jim Covino who leads product for Toast Tables now. Jim, any update you can share on Card on File - Hold a CC for reservations (No Show / Cancelation Fees)?
