I'm not sure why there isn't an option to just automatically refund the card that is being held for deposits on large parties. If someone else is paying or there are split checks, the person who made the deposit isn't getting refunded- everyone else is getting their money. There also isn't a way to just automatically refund someone in the backend due to the time limit- which I don't understand. This is extremely complicated and I don't want to end up having my customers getting screwed out of getting their money back- it should just automatically refund to their card as soon as they are sat.

Hi there - Are you looking more for credit card holds where a guest is never charged? Deposits are meant to be applied to the bill when a guest is sat - that is how they work across all reservation systems, such as Tock, Resy, OpenTable. Is your desire to refund every deposit? If we made this easier via the host app instead of requiring you to go into Toastweb, would that be an improvement?
I'm not sure what you mean by "automatically refund someone in the backend due to the time limit" - can you elaborate?

sonora.braun@toasttab.com I'm looking for an option where the credit card that was held for the deposit just automatically gets refunded. A party that came in recently was for 11 people- all separate checks- and the person whose card was held only spend about $50. So they wouldn't be getting their full money back with it being a "discount". Does that make sense?
